How to learn a dance from a slowed down dvd?
——————————————————————————–
Me and 2 friends want to learn some of the dance routines from Michael Jackson’s music videos. There are 2 instructional dvds on the market, but one only teaches you individual moves like the moonwalk, not full routines, and the other only teaches the dance to thriller. So we ere thinking of maybe watching his music videos in slow motion and trying to learn from that. Do you think this would work? Can anyone give us any tips?
we can’t do it with youtube as we don’t have the internet in the dance hall. What is mirroring?
It will work, a lot of dancers do that.
i suggest you to mirror the video, that way it will be easier to copy the moves because you won’t need to think about your right or you left but just do like if the video was your reflexion in the mirror.
you can do that with any video editor.
Didn’t you think of searching for tutorials on youtube? It will be even more easy to learn the choregraphy with that here’s a link to the thriller dance tutorial and you just have to search for the other videos:

Good Luck and Have Fun!
Edit:
well you can always try downloading the video and put it ona dvd.
Mirroring is like doing a 180 degree rotation with the video if you know what I mean.. That way. the left and of the dancer in the video is on your left and it makes it easier to learn the steps. it’s to ‘reverse’ the image horozontally of the video if you know what I mean.

okay that may work but you can also learn them by pieces rather than slowing it down….. like what one section of the video and try and get a feel for the count that it is a lot of his days are 6-8 counts [ i think don't quote me on that ] but i am almost certain because he set the bar for so many other dancers out there, so what would they be some lame 4 count that just anyone could do. As for mirroring, that is a style in dancing used to create a mirror like image. like example you and a partner would be in front of each Other face to face, if you move your right leg they move their right leg if you move your head to the left they move theirs to the right. it gives to visual as if the person were looking into a mirror. There are other forms of mirroring but i was just giving an example.
